Training Overview

I-9 flexibility is ending. Learn about the new document verification requirements.

The Department of Homeland Security extended the procedural flexibility for verification of I-9 forms only until December 31, 2021. With that date fast approaching, you need to revisit your policies and procedures for handling these documents that confirm employees’ identity and employment authorization.

An employer or an authorized representative must complete Section 2 of the I-9 form. You need to physically examine the documentation presented by the employee and sign the form. Even for remote hires, in-person verification of documents will again be required. After almost two years of alternative requirements, you likely need a refresher.
