Keynote Speakers

John Whyte, MD, MPH

  • Popular physician and writer who has been communicating to the public about health issues for nearly two decades
  • Chief Medical Officer, WebMD
  • Continues to see patients in Washington, DC and Maryland
  • Previously director of professional affairs and stakeholder engagement at the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration
  • Worked for nearly a decade as the chief medical expert and vice president, health and medical education, at Discovery Channel, the leading nonfiction television network
  • Served as a health services research fellow at Stanford and attending physician in the department of medicine
  • Board-certified internist
  • Completed an internal medicine residency at Duke University Medical Center
  • Master of Public Health in health policy and management from Harvard University School of Public Health

John Register

  • Inspirational speaker, trainer, and coach

  • Began swimming competitively at a young age and soon added baseball, football, and eventually track and field to his repertoire

  • Four-time All-American college athlete

  • Served in the U.S. Army for six years in Desert Shield and Desert Storm

  • Won nine gold medals in the Armed Services Competition and two World Military Championships

  • Qualified in Olympic trials in 1988 and 1992

  • Experienced a knee injury requiring amputation and use of a prosthetic leg

  • After 18 months of rehabilitation and training, made the 1996 Paralympic Team

  • Earned the Silver medal in the long jump at the 2000 Paralympic Games and set the American long jump record

  • Accepted a position with the United States Olympic Committee (USOC)

  • Created the USOC Paralympic Military Program

  • BA in communications from the University of Arkansas

  • Leads Inspired Communications International LLC
