Hailing originally from Wisconsin, Sharon S. Moyer now practices employment, estate planning, and probate and trust law in Scottsdale, AZ, with Sacks Tierney, P.A. A member of the firm’s employment law group, she works on a wide array of employment issues, both resolving and litigating employment disputes and advising on the use of “preventive law” to help employers avoid such disputes in the first place. Such preventive measures include adopting and revising employee handbooks and developing risk-focused policies on drug testing, electronic communications, AIDS, privacy, and other issues. She also assists business owners and HR managers by guiding them through the multiple minefields of hiring, employee performance reviews, discipline, compensation, overtime, and terminations.
Ms. Moyer is versed in claims of wrongful termination, sexual harassment, and violations of various state and federal employment laws, including the Americans With Disabilities Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, and Employee Polygraph Protection Act. She also writes extensively, presents webinars for HR professionals on employment topics, and is active in her local community.
Ms. Moyer received her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin Law School and her B.A. from Marquette University.
